Back to Success Stories

In 2019, the Center’s Drug Effectiveness Review Project team  worked with Washington Health Care Authority to develop risk-of-bias tools for state clinical staff to assess the quality of randomized and nonrandomized studies. The tools were developed using national and international standards for study quality, tailored for ease-of-use during prior authorization request reviews. The Center hosted a hands-on experiential training on use of the forms, and today Washington State staff use the forms to guide evidence-based coverage decision making in alignment with Washington Administrative Code for quality of evidence.
